What Could Cause Right Sided Pain?

Hi Doc, well my right side in the front was hurting me really bad and the pain just started last night at work. We I stood up fro my chair I had this terrible pain in my side, and I was wondering could it be my appendix. Right now I am deployed in Aghanistan so could you please give me some advice.

Hello,

If you have fever and persistent pain in this region, going to the ER is necessary for a physical exam, an abdominal ultrasound and some blood lab tests. Otherwise, if you do not have fever, I recommend taking an antispasmodic drug (buscopan, dicyclomine, etc).
