What Could Cause Small Black Spot In Left Eye's Vision Lasting For 5-15 Minutes?

Hello,

Over the past year and a half, I have experienced seeing a small or slightly bigger size black spot in my left eye's vision. It happens rarely, but when I get it, it's typically at night and it lasts roughly between 5-15 minutes. Occasionally, I see a tiny pin hole sized bright light that can pop anywhere in my vision. I know that I have a vitamin deficiency (iron, vitamin D, etc), however, I'm also wondering if stress can play a huge factor here. I do get stressed a lot and I suffer from migraines (including ocular migraines). I am scheduled for an eye appointment on the 16th, but I'm stressing out after the appearance of another black spot this evening. I don't know why they only occur at night.... Any thoughts?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that you are having complaint of black spot in left eye.
This is called as floater and is usually because of problems in the vitreous cavity.
It is because of vitreous opacities commonly because of age related degeneration of the vitreous.
However all cases require evaluation to rule out associated retinal diseases. This can be done by indirect oohthalmoscooy.
Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for examination and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
