What Could Diarrhea Containing Mucus And White Spots With Fever Indicate?
Dear doctor,my friend's son has been having symptoms like this for the past 3days:-fatigue-diarrhea with stool that has white spot and mucus-coughing-fever for 1/56 with temperature of 39.0 - 40.2 degree-dehydration-this morning ,he is showing sign of shivering and cyanosis could you please help me?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of your friend's son having fatigue, diarrhea, mucus and white spots in stool, coughing with expectoration and fever of 39 - 40.2, dehydration with shivering and cyanosis... All these are the symptoms of severe septicemia secondary to gastroenteritis. I would advise the following in such a situation: Take the boy to the hospital for clinical evaluation, examination, investigations of blood, stool and urine. Needs intravenous fluids to combat dehydration, electrolyte imbalance and to maintain the vitals well before going into complications. Do not waste time in trying anything at home or at a small clinic. All the best.
