Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Endoscopy Of Mild Antral Gastritis Suggest?
3 months ago had acute onset of abdominal pain, with a mild fever accompanied by huge amounts of gas. My stomach also hurt and felt sore. I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy performed. The colonoscopy result was normal and the endoscopy indicated mild antral gastritis (the Dr. didn't seem too conclusive). The condition has improved, although I haven't returned to normal yet. Stomach very sensitive. 3 weeks ago underwent a CT of the abdominal area, the findings were - mild retroperiteonium and mesenteric adenopathy, thickening of terminal ileum, and of ascending colon (no obstruction visualized). Can this be consistent with a bowel inflamatory condition? My colonoscopy was fine, so these results are quite puzzling. Appreciate the feedback.
It is unlikely that you have Inflammatory Bowel Disease if you had a normal colonoscopy. It sounds like you may have had a GI infection recently (given your symptoms 3 months ago) and your GI tract is still recovering (evidenced by the adenopathy and thickening of the colon on CT). The inflammation is clearly not significant enough to cause full-thickness damage to your colon, because nothing was noted on colonoscopy.
