What Does "The Uterus Seems Anteverted, Bulky In Size And Shows Inhomogenous Echogenecity" Means In Scan?

I have just got a full abdomen USG report in my hand. The Uterus seems anteverted, bulky in size and shows inhomogenous echogenecity. Endometrial thickness measures 9.7 mm. No focal myometrial lesion - have been feeling very heavy in the abdomen area. Had started menopause. Last cycle was in Oct 2011. Then again July 26 i had it for a few days and with lot of pain and heavy bleeding. After the regular 4 -5 days it again started on Aug 3 and continued till about 9 days. What are these symptoms of ?

Thanks for writing in.

The uterus is slightly enlarged. The wall of the uterus shows irregular areas which is mentioned as inhomogeneous echogenicity. This can be due to a condition called adenomyosis and this is better diagnosed in the presence of symptoms like irregular bleeding with significant pelvic pain. You must talk to your doctor and if required a uterine curettage and/ or an endometrial biopsy may also be done.
