What Does This Stool Examination Result Of 20 Month Baby Indicate?
My 20month old son's stool examination had the following: Reaction:Alkaline,Occult Blood: Positive,Mucus:Present,Pus Cells: 10-12hpf,starch undiested:Present,Reducing substances:Trace,Bacilli present.
Chemical examination states
Blood :trace and Leucocytes:trace
Microscopic Examination states
RBC's:1-2 hpf, Pus cells: 3-4hpf, Others -UR: 2-4 hpf Bacteria present

This seems to be a normal stool report of a baby with acute watery diarrhea. Some occult blood is common.
It seems your kid is having acute watery diarrhea. Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion (by direct vision) or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry.
Unless there is blood (by direct vision) in the motion there is no need for antibiotics or cultures. Antibiotics might worsen if unnecessarily used causing antibiotic associated diarrhoea. I suggest you use zinc supplements & ORS. For vomiting you can use Syrup Ondanisetron 0.15mg/kg/dose thrice a day, 30minutes before feeds.
