What Does White Stools Mean?

My 2 yr old threw up at daycare today and had white diarrhea. He's been in great spirits otherwise all afternoon, but had more white diarrhea. He complained of a stomach ache this morning. He did have a stomach bug a week ago, but it only lasted for a night and a day. I'm worried about the white stools.

Hello,

The white or clay-like stool caused by a lack of bile, which may indicate a serious underlying problem. Bile is a digestive fluid produced by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. Some advices that I can give to you are:
-Do a complete blood count
-Do a bilirubin level
-An ultrasound
-A visit to a gastrologist

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
