What Is A Small Lump Above My Belly Button?

I have a very small lump above my belly button. When I grab the little fat above my belly button, I can feel the bump. It is not visible though, and does not appear while laughing or coughing and it cause no pain of discomfort. Is the a navel hernia or is it something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thank you for posting.

I thin that you suffer from Paraumbilical Hernia, that is appeared on adults.
In these cases hernias are openings in the adipose tissue.

However you need the following tests to determine the diagnosis:
1- Abdominal Ultrasound.
2- Abdominal Laparoscopy.
3- Complete blood count.
4- Urine test.
5- Liver function test.

If the results shows that you suffer from Paraumbelical Hernia, the treatment is done by surgical intervention.

You should contact your abdominal surgeon.

I hope you find this helpful.

Regards.
Dr. Behar.
