Hi,
Though diabetes with 7 years standing has effect on general health & resistance, the drugs used do not have side effect of muscle pain/swelling of leg.
UTI is associated with fever with rigor which results in muscle pain. UtI also may lead to water retaintion & swelling on feet.
Citralka changes urine from acidic to alkaline reaction- thereby relieving the burning. It does not depleat calcium & not likely to cause muscle pain.
Your mother needs a strict sugar control & complete course of antibiotics as advised by your physician.
Thanks

Hi,

It is normal for diabetics to develop UTI as in case of your mother. The muscle pain and swellin in her feet is related to UTI. Most probably she is have proteinuria, which is manifestated with swollen feet.

I suggest to:
- get her treated according to doctor's prescription and sensitivity testing
- ask her to drink water
- citralka is great to reduce burning during urination
- take cranberry/uva-ursi/fern-stone tea to alleviate the symptoms
- help her control blood sugar. Once they are well-controlled, it would be more easier to get her UTI treated.

Once again, having UTI is not related to Januvia but to diabetes, especially if not well-controlled.

Wish her fast recovery!
