Almost 2 yr old had a rash that started earlier this evening, unknowingly until bath time. I saw the red splotches on her knees at dinner time but she has been crawling around on the carpet and wood floor playing with her sister and riding a rocking horse. So at bath time she had 3-4 on her face and by the time her bath was over (like 10-15 mins) they were gone. So as I dressed her I noticed some were lightening. There seems to be a little postule of fluid in the middle of some. Just here at night night time, changed her diaper and she has a larger one on her upper thigh and maybe 5-6 little postules in those. She has been sick over the weekend with fever and headcold. Just weird how it can be there and go away. Oh and the ones on her knees from dinner and bath, are gone.
Hi. As per your case history your child is having atopic rash. My treatment advice is - 1. Avoid using any new products like soap or perfume. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine syrup 5ml once at night. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral NSAID taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
