What Is The Treatment For Pain While Urinating And Disk Herniation?

Hello... I am wondering if you can tell me if my trouble urinating and making BMs could be related to a herniated disk I have at L5S1. Have had it for 5 months and have tried non-surgical treatments. Mostly LBP and pain down legs, but now have sharp rectal pain and trouble with elimination especially after being on my feet or sitting position for a while.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Trouble urination with bowel movement has specific to do with the disc herniation as the control of same passes from the lower lumbar spinal levels only.

Kindly discuss the need of MRI spine with your doc for best findings as far as concerned nerves are to be evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
