What Multivitamin Supplements Can A Breastfeeding Mother Suffering From Thalassemia And High HBA2 Take?

Hi I am digonosed in a report high hba2 consistent with thelesemia minor I am 29 year female n have two kids one is 4 year of gae n other is 3 month what is the probability that my kids will have too n what precaution I ve to take in my reports my ferritin level are also 193 less than 200 plus high Rbc . What kind of multivitamin I can take as I am a breast feed mother n how long I can continue my breast feeding ?

Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
As you are having thalessemia minor, there is 25 % chance that your children will be having the same thalessemia minor trait.
Please get your husband also tested.
If he is also having the same issue, chances are as high as 50 %.
ALso, both your children should be tested for the same condition.
You should take iron supplements daily.
ALso have a diet that is rich in spinach, meat , liver, beef, bone marrow, nuts , grains ( high iron content ).
And supplement it with high vitamin C diet ( oranges, kiwi, amla ).
Take daily calcium supplements as long as you are breastfeeding.
Vitamin D also should be taken.
Commonly recommended brands are Ferronine ( iron ) and Shelcal - D 3.
Have high intake of dairy products such as milk, curd, paneer tofu, cheese.
