Hi
Fever of the range 103'F or 104'F can be considered high.
You have not mentioned about the medications. You may give
Paracetamol every 6 hrs. If its not coming down and child is irritable and cranky due to fever, you may give one or two doses of
Meftal P in between.
You may also do tepid sponging with tap water.
Regarding the
rash, I would like to know the way they look like. Are they filled with fluid or red blotchy rashes?
Small pox is one among the few diseases eradicated.
I guess you wanted to mean
chicken pox.
Chicken pox rashes are fluid filled rashes, more seen on the body than on the arms and legs. Please get it confirmed with a doctor.
If its chicken pox, its better to keep the kid isolated atleast for a week, till all lesions go off.
Regarding food, give fluids in plenty- water, coconut water, juices, soups. porridge, milk and what ever food your kid likes.
In any illness kids refuse feeds. So see to that fluids are given in plenty and he passes urine atleast 4 to 5 times in a day.
Hope this answers your query.
Wish your son a speedy recovery.
