What To Do If Experiencing Heavy Bleeding Before Periods While On Alesse Birth Control?

Hi, i am a young adult. I am 10 days away from my period and am experiencing heavy bleeding. I am currently taking Alesse birth control, and not sure if that has any effect. My nipple was also bleeding a few days ago which has never happened before. I have had only minor cramping and the blood is dark, but started brown.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,

In the current scenario, you need immediate medical assistance. The bleeding is very likely to be a side effect of the hormone contraception. Also, bloody nipple discharge calls for further evaluation. I would ask you to see a specialist for a complete assessment to plan further management.

Hope I have answered your query. You can reach me here for further queries.

Take care.

Regards,
Dr. Shanti Vennam, OBGYN
