What Was The Black Thread Type Thing In My Bowel Movement?

I am a "healthy" 39 yr old female. Typically I would have a bowel movement 1-2 times a week even as a child(per my mom). For about the last 3 wks I have had daily diarrhea (more than 1 time, closer to 3/day). Last night was the first time I was woken up (3am) with the urge to go. I believe that I saw about a 2-3 inch black thread type object that floated, and some mucus discharge. Any thoughts on what this could be? Sincerly, Afraid to Call Dr.
