Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is 22 months old. He caught typhoid last month (Mid April). He was hospitalized for one week. He recovered and now he is fine now. Our doctor has asked us to come for typhoid vaccine now. I want to ask is it safe to get him vaccinated now when he has only recently recovered and that too when he has not yet reached exact two years of age (he will be 2 years in August). Kindly answer my query.
Hi, thanks for writing to us, now a days a new formulation of typhoid vaccine is available which is in a conjugated form eligible to be given to kids as young as 9 months old,, so if your doctor is using that kind of vaccine then you can go ahead. If its been one month since his confirmed typhoid attack, then you can go ahead for the vaccine, thank you.
