White Puss Things That Form Scabs In Eyes, Lashes Falling Out. What Could Be This?

Hi, my roommate has something weird going on with her eyes and we don't know what it might be. She has little white puss things that form scabs if you try to wipe them away. They line her eyes. Sometimes there aren't very many but sometimes there are a lot of these. She's had them for as long as I have known her, so at least a year. It looks like her lashes fall out from the spots that get scabby, too, so I was thinking it might be some kind of infection in the follicles. What might this be?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi Friend I am Dr Bilal and I am an Ophthalmologist
Welcome to Health Care Magic and thanks for writing to us .
I would like to answer your question and your satisfaction is my goal .

As per history given by you about your friend , it seems as if your friend is suffering from blepharitis and associated meibomian gland dysfunction . In blepharitis , there is itching , crusting and stickiness of the eyelids . The meibomian glands secrete oily secretions for the stability of tear film and they are present along the eye lashes . The blockage or dysfunction of meibomian gland leads to instability of tear film and this in turn leads to dry eyes . Your friends should visit an ophthalmologist and get herself examined , as she may require a short course of antibiotics . Meanwhile ask your friend to do the massage of her eye lids , apply hot compresses , use artificial tears .

I hope you will find my answer helpful .
Wish your friend a speedy recovery .
Best Regards .

You are half way to diagnosis!
It is infection and is curable with care
Take her to an Ophthalmologist (eye specialist) / examination, basic investigation and a course of antibiotics - may ensure permanent relief...
