Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have chronic neck pain on left side of neck, feels like nerve or muscle and goes from top of shoulder on left side to the left side of my neck. It comes on in early evening and it can happen if I tilt my head forward or turn it sideways. But if I'm standing up, usually it does not happen; usually, it occurs when I'm in a sitting position or prone position. I can eventually get to sleep and the pain is usually gone in the morning. This has been going on for the last three months. I have tried chiropractic, and regular and deep tissue massage, as well as applying heat. It continues to come back. What kind of a medical specialist should I see -- a neurologist or an orthopaedic?
Any type of chronic non reliving pains are seen by anaesthetits, and if there is some orthopedic reason behind it, you can advise a orthopaedics too, to rule out spondolysis or any other boney neck problem, by doing some CT scan or MRI !!
