hi i have had my mirena coil in for 2 years and am in terrible pain down my right side,i also have pain in my left shoulder(i dont know if its connected)i went to the docs who told me he couldnt find the strings and i have to go for a scan.i am in agony,what should i do?i am 27 years old,female,

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com.the symptoms .The scan is necessary-it will show the exact position of the coil-whether in uterus or out of it.Also it will exclude ectopic pregnancy which is seen in mirena users.Take care.
