Why Do My Knees Hurt When I Get Up After Sitting For Sometime?

When walking in the supermarket, I had sudden pain in my left knee. So severe I could hardly put weight on the leg. It seemed to get better as I walked around. However, later as I stood up from sitting, the pain returned and I again had trouble walking. There is no pain at all when sitting or just standing. But when I try tomputnweightnon it and walk the pain is there. What could be the problem? Frank

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It might be an early sign of arthritis. Consult an orthopaedic and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
