Why Does Taking Metronidazole For UTI Cause Vomiting?
I have some Metronidazole for a yeast infection that I never finished from about a month ago. I now have a uti, and thought that medication would help. I took one this morning with water, and about an hour ago, I took the second one with CranGrape juice. I then threw up all of the juice, and it tasted like the metronidazole. I was wondering what this meant. If it was just a side affect, or a bad mixture.
Hi, Metronidazole by itself has a metallic taste, and vomiting after intake of this drug is fairly common and therefore we suggest you take it after you take a combination of drugs like pantoprazole and domperidone to reduce this chance. Added to thus would be chances of vomiting induced by a UTI. Metronidazole does not work well for conventional UTI and I suggest you use another drug like trimethoprim or septran if you have no allergy to sulfas.
