Why Is Keflex Causing Vomiting, Loss Of Appetite And Diarrhea?

My 13 year old son was diagnosed with strep throat a few weeks ago. He took a 10 day course of amoxicillin and was fine. A few days later, his sore throat returned and he was put on Keflex. After day 6 he began vomiting. He took one more dose on day 7 and after vomiting again, the doctor said to stop the Keflex. It s been a few days since he stopped the Keflex, and he s very pale, has absolutely no appetite and has diarrhea. Any thoughts on what s going on with him?

Keflex causes vomiting and loss of appetite due to gastric mucosa irritation caused as a side effects.Taking antacids can help in this case.Diarrhea is due to eradication of normal intestinal flora. So taking probiotics can help.Give him adequate water and balanced nonspicy diet and above mentioned medications, this help him come back to normal.Regards.
