Why Is There Itchiness In The Vagina In My 5 Year Old Daughter ?

My 5 year old daughter had itching in her vagina. i took her to gynae. her vaginal opening was closed which she opened using estrogen cream . i applied estrogen cream for about 30 days. now, she feels a lot of ichiness and at times burning in her vagina. i have shown her to pediatrician and her treatment for de wormimg. but so far no relief. please help.

hello
your baby is suffering from pruritis vilvae.it is a type of infection due to poor hygine or any thing.you should go for following investigation
Culture and microscopic exam of vaginal discharge
Pap smear
Skin biopsies of the vulvar area
Urine and blood studies (including hormone levels)
and following precaution
Antibiotics for bacterial vaginal infections,
Antifungal drugs for yeast infections
Benzodiazepines or antihistamines for nighttime relief
Ointments containing hormones
Steroid creams or lotions to reduce inflammation

hi welcome to HCM.pruritis vulvae is a most common complaint in females of all ages.
common causes for vaginal itching are,
-chemical irritantas like detergents,body spray,fabric softner,creams,ointments
-vaginal yeast infection
-pin worm infestation etc.
so you should go for following investigations,
-culture and microscopic examination of vaginal discharge,
-pap smear
-vulvar skin biopsy
-urine and blood investigation.
home remidies for control of infection and itching are
*Avoid colored or perfumed toilet tissue and bubble bath.
*Change out of wet clothing, especially wet bathing suits or exercise clothing, as soon as possible.
*Cleanse the area by wiping or washing from front to back (vagina to anus) after urinating or having a bowel movement.
*Keep genital area clean and dry. Use plain, unscented soap.
*Avoid panties made from synthetic materials
*Avoid scratching, which will only aggravate the problem.
your health care provider may prescribe following medicines

A probable cause of the vaginal itching could be pin worm infestation. A course of deworming medicines will help. Another cause can be poor hygiene. Wash the area with warm water and soap regularly. This should help the itching. A small dose of antihistamine medication like cetrizine will also reduce the itching.
