Why Puss Is Coming Out Of Toddlers Ear After Putting Ear Drops To Clear Wax?

18 month old toddler complained of ear ache. Clinic nurse checked and said wax was present, and gave an ear drop to clear wax. However, pus starts to come out of the ear. Do I still administer the ear drops? What should I do about the pus? She did fall and hit her head a couple of days before this.
