Why The Sugar Count In The Morning Is 60?

I AM trying to lose weight with exercise and watching what I eat. I am a diabetic. A1c is at 7.5. I have been having 60 count in the mornings and 120 count around 11:00 P.M at night. I take metformin tablet in the morning and one at night. Plus 50 units of insulin around 11:00 a.m. and another 50 units at 11:00 p.m. I lost 9 pds in June. I have had diabetes for 10 years. Should I be worried about the 60 count? I am 64 years old. go to the doctors every 3 months. weigh 190 pds now

Dear Sir /Madam,
The fact That you lost weight is very good. I think its now time to reduce the dose of insulin at least by 4 units (if its premix insulin) in the morning and 4 units in the night as your sugars are down now. Keep checking sugars. optimally fasting should be around 100 and post-prandial around 160. That will keep you fresh and in good health. on an optimal control your HbA1c will also be be maintained around 7. Good that you review with your doctor regularly. Please continue to do so and any queries we are always with you. good day!
