Will Robaxin Help With Rectal Discomfort?

I have Crohn s disease, have had an ileostomy for almost 5 years; had a total proctocolectomy six-and-a-half weeks ago. Complications following surgery included an abdominal abscess, had to go back in hospital for a drain and IV antibiotics. Drain came out 11-12-14 and CT scan that date showed resolved abscess. I still have a LOT of abdominal and rectal area pain/discomfort. I am taking pretty minimal pain meds... 500 mg Tylenol and one-fourth of a Norco every 4-5 hours, watching the total acetaminophin dose each day. Other pain meds pretty much make me sleep, but this makes pain tolerable and I can even drive and function, but I have no stamina and still SO UNCOMFORTABLE. I have had NO FURTHER FEVER after the onset of the abscess. If I have developed another abscess, wouldn t I have a fever? Surgeon thinks rectal discomfort is from how much they had to pull the sphincter muscles together to stitch closed. Tried Robaxin which did not help. tried Valium which knocks me out.

Hi,Dear,Thanks for your query to HCM.
Dear I read your query and reviewed it with context to your query facts.
I understood your health concerns and feel Concerned about them.

Based on the facts of your query, you seem to suffer from-
Stitch neuroma with F.B.Granuloma with a resolved retctal/? Pelvic- post-procto-Colectomy abscess with subdued infection and inflammation-making it worst in your case.
Ans-
Robaxin would not be helping in this case, as the proctocolectomy rectal pain is from the Stitch neuroma.
Antibiotic Cover with Proper drainage and debridement of the post-operative chronic abscess- with Tetracycline instillation in the residual cavity would expedite the healing of the infective inflmmation, which is making the Stitch neuroma in your case worst to give you sleep less nights from unbearable pain.
I would suggest you to
-Shift to Gabapentine Tab -starting with 300 mg x 3 times a day
with Tylenol 500 mg x 3 times a day ,
With Tab alprazolam .25 mg x 2 times a day.
With Tab Neurbion 1-x 2 time a day x 3 weeks.
Tab Chymoral forte- 1-x 3 times a day x 3 weeks.
With Oflox-Oz- 1 x 2 times a day x 2 weeks to control your pain and recoup the lac of energy in you- which is from chronic infection with debility.
Good hydration and liquid diet with Butter milk and Banana milk Shakes and Spinach Soups x 3 weeks would help you to recoup.
Simultaneously the Tetracycline instillation and followup of the Chronic Abscess would be needed to cure you from this chronic but otherwise resistant health problem of yours.
Hope this would help you to resolve your health issues in the best way possible.
Welcome for any further query in this regard.

Good Day!!
