I peeled away a piece of my fingernail yesterday and I hit the nail bed, it is now pushing up through the hole in a raised red lump. I did this back 20 years ago in high school and at the time they removed the whole nail, saying the pressure had to be released for this to heal. I really don t want to go through that again, my question is, is it possible for the nail bed swelling to eventually go back down under the hole on its own, or is the only option once it swells up like that is to remove the nail?
