Will Antibiotic Help To Come Down Fever ,tonsil Problem And Cough?

My Son is having fever ranging from 100-103 since last 4 Days. Dr. Diagnosed tonsils problem and has given antibiotic for 4 days and cough syrup. My son who is 5.6 Yrs old is already 13 kg weight is getting weaker but fever still persists. He took antibiotic for 2 days . Shall i complete course of antibiotic first and wait for another two days or go to dr. again for his fever and pain in abdomen . ? I am very much worried about him.

As your child got tonsillitis. without rule outing the cause for the tonsillitis antibiotic administration is not advisable,unless it is bacterial cause.

if it is a virus causing tonsillitis no need for antibiotics because antibiotics meant for bacterial infection. viral tonsillitis will have 5 to 8 days of fever with associated symptoms like pain,cough,etc.symptomatic treatment advised.

kindly go for a throat swab culture to fix the issue .and consult a pediatrician for proper treatment and management.
