Shelcal contains calcium carbonate which can produce gas in the stomach in some people. Otherwise it is a safe drug and you have to take the drug advised by the nephrologist as you are having proteinuria. To minimize the side effect you can take shelcal in 2 divided doses after food. Your reduced appetite may not be due to shelcal but may be due to your diabetic complications such as proteinuria.
