Worsening Capability To Hold Urine Output. Prescribed Potassium And Lasix For Edema In Legs
I have experienced for several years, a worsening capability to hold my urine output. I am up going to bathroom every 2 hours during night hours, waking up from deep sleep to go. My local primary physician has prescribed Potassium and Lasix, to take every morning to reduce edema and swelling in both legs and ankles. I have gone to the newest urologist in Topeka, a woman a Dr. Kathy _____? who only prescribed doing muscle exercises to strengthen my ability to hold in the urine and help my bladder condition. This has not worked. I think I need some kind of pessary or surgery. What do you advise me to do next?
Hi, If you void every time with a good stream, and have no residual urine in bladder after you complete voiding, you might benefit from use of medicines belonging to a group called Anti-Cholinergics. This should help you go less frequently, and improve your capability of holding larger volumes. At the same time, I also suggest that you restrict your fluid intake in evening, especially tea and alcohol. If your flow is poor, you might have to start medicines like Flomax, which are called alpha-blockers, and if they sytill do not help you, then you can dd the anti-cholinergics that I told you earlier.
