Would A Fall Cause Swelling In Anus? How To Treat This?
Hi, my 6 year old son fell down very hard onto his backside today. Onto concrete. Tonight we noticed he has a sore, slightly swollen area next to his anus. I can't see a bruise. His tail bone seems fine. Would a fall cause swelling in this area? It seems quite far in. It is painful to sit and even sore when he walks now. What would be the best way to treat please?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. From description it seems to be soft tissue injury . Swelling might be due to haematoma formation(collection of blood). He need an x-ray to rule out any bony injury. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. He may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.Beside icing he can take anti-inflammatory drug like ibugesic syrup to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid sitting on hard surface and rest well.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
