15 Month Old Child, Red Dots On Cheeks Under Skin. Petechia?

My 15 month old developed tiny, red dots on his cheeks recently. They don't seem to bother him and haven't gotten better or worse since Friday. They are under the skin and do not turn white when pressed.
His pediatrician said to give it until tomorrow before taking him in for an appointment. Just wondering if he really could have petechia??

hi ! Petechiae are pinpoint non-blanching spots & the description of rashes you have given are consistent with petechiae. if they are not associated with fever there is no need to worry but if it persists or increases in number or is associated with fever you need to visist a paediatrician. Petechial spots could just be due to a temporary drop in platelet count from fighting a virus or could be due to some serious ailments. take care.
