Hi,

Amitriptyline belongs to the group of medications known as tricyclic antidepressants which is used to treat mental or mood problems like depression. It may help improve mood and feelings of well-being, relieve anxiety and tension, help to sleep better and increase the energy level.

Don't stop taking Amitriptyline without talking to your doctor. If you suddenly stop taking Amitriptyline, you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, headache, lack of energy, dizziness, appetite loss, diarrhea, muscle pain, sleeping problems etc. Generally these symptoms might last between 1 and 3 weeks. His doctor will probably decrease the dose gradually.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
