Can Increased Vertigo And Extreme Tiredness Be Due To Colloid Cyst?
Hi. I have a colloid cyst and am typically symptom-free. Lately I have been experiencing increased vertigo, as well as extreme tiredness - like wanting to fall asleep while driving, and while working. Is this possibly related to the cyst? At first diagnosis it was 7mm. First follow-up it grew 17% and showed signs of hemorrhaging. Still, I was symptom-free at that time. Second follow-up it had shrunk to 6mm. My next MRI is supposed to be in April. It is ok to wait, or should I call and move it up to get it checked out sooner?
The most common symptom that would be related to a colloid cyst that would be of clinical urgency would be severe headaches that start and stop upon postural changes (lying to standing and vice versa). INCREASING vertigo in the absence of headache for a colloid cyst (especially one that is smaller than before) would be improbable. Fatigue not known to be a symptom of this type of cyst. If I were your neurologist I would recommend limiting the number of MRI's UNLESS there were more hard core signs of abnormalities or neurological compromise than what you're describing. Studies are pretty convincing that increased numbers of MRI's in a short period of time can lead to DNA breakage and other issues and these can cause more comorbidity in the long run than watching a colloid cyst shrink in the absence of clinically relevant symptoms.
