Can One Exercise After D&C, Ablation And Polyp Removal?

Can I exercise after DNC, Ablation and having a uterine polyp removed? What would you recommend for post op care

I am 52 5'5" and wiegh 131 lbs. I have never had any other kind of surgery, I have had 4 - 5 years of abnormal bleeding, like more days a month bleeding than not, and sometimes very heavy with clotting, I have even been anemic a few times because of it, they though the bleeding was from ademoysis after ultra sounds, but now it could have been caused by the polyp they found and removed after hysteroscopy, they also did, as I mentioned above, a DNC and an ablation. Can you give me more information about what a polyp is as well

Thank-you

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You can resume any kind of exercise you are comfortable with. There is no limitation. But I would suggest not to indulge in heavy exercises like doing weights or running on treadmill atleast for 6 weeks post operation. Take care of your nutritional requirements. If you are severely anemic you may need supplements to correct that.

If you have any complaints of abdominal pain, fever or bleeding reach out to your gynecologist. Maintain personal hygiene, healthy diet and get adequate sleep. Abstain for a while from sex till you are comfortable. You will be fine. A polyp is excessive growth of uterine tissue due to hormonal imbalance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Deepti Shivakumar
