Child. On Refrigerated Vyvanse For ADHD. Trouble Focussing In School. Need To Give Medicine In Room Temperature?

my 8yr old grandson is in vyvanse, he is ADHD, he only takes this medication for school days, half a capsule in water in the mornings before school. why is he now experiencing trouble focusing at school? he is followed by a specialist but this issue has just risen and reported to me via his teacher. Also, what is the expiry for Vyvanse? He is on 10mg daily at present. I had it refridgerated for the summer..............is this okay................... I just read that it should be at room temp., will this now change the way it performs? Thx

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello
Welcome to HCM

Vyvnase is a stimulant drug with promising results in ADHD and a number of other childhood psychiatric disorders. If he is not showing improvement or not focussing properly I would advise you to visit his psychiatrist again.

When kept for long the drug should be kept in a cool place at room temperature away from direct sunlight. Excessive heat may cause damage to drug but keeping the drug in refrigerator will not affect its quality. There is no risk in giving this drug.

Thanks
