Hello,
Its good that you have already shown your baby to the doctor and started treatment.
Usually fever takes 48 to 72 ( 2 to 3 days)hours to subside. If fever doesn't subside with the medications, do sponging with luke warm water( cold water will cause shivering and increase fever) till fever subsides. continue all the medicines till fever stoops and antibiotic duration is completed. Ensure your child takes feed and give extra fluids to compensate for fluid loss in fever.
Keep the baby with you under observation at all times.Look for decreased activity or poor feeding. If you notice any abnormal symptoms or any new symptoms, kindly take the baby to the pediatrician again.
with all these precautions, your baby should be on the road to recovery soon. Hope you feel reassured.. Take care. Bye
good morning, usually it is difficult to predict the duration of fever , but on an average it might take 5 to 6 days for the fever to settle down, if the fever persists beyond 4 days , it requires blood tests and urine analysis to rule out infection and most important of all dengue fever , because it is a prime season for dengue fever. till then continue the medications, do warm water sponges for every 5 to 6 hrs once to reduce high fever and to prevent febrile seizures.
