My four year old foster child is loosing pigmentation around her anus . It is spreading now. It is moving toward the cheeks. Additionally, some times it is raw or bumpy or cracked skin (open wounds). It looks like she has been scratching . She complains of it being itchy a lot. And, hair is growing around the anus. Help.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic,
The perianal itching is due to worm infestation especially with pin worm infestation.
She needs deworming with albendazole once now and another dose after 2 weeks.
Hair will present around the anus and it is vellus hair which will present normally in children.
Consult your Pediatrician for the examination and for deworming medication.
Hope I have answered your query.

Pediatrician Dr. Synthyia Bhagat's  Response
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Hypopigmented spots on perianal region and now spreading needs to be examined.
I suggest you to get her examined by pediatrician.
Worm infestation especially pinworm causes perianal itching, for which deworming with albendazole needs to be done and is to be repeated after 15 days.
For cracked she will need a mild steroid cream.
Hair around anal region is common, there is nothing to worry.

Wishing your child good health.
God bless.
