Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.
Dengue fever is caused by a virus and it will present with fever, body pains, abdominal pain, and decreased platelet counts.
As the fever subsides, platelets will decrease gradually and raise once the child starts recovering.
Give soft diet and plenty of oral fluids to maintain hydration.
Be in regular follow up with the pediatrician.
Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.

Hi..
Thanks for the query...
1.21 platelet count is not very low..
You can continue to give him supportive treatment in the form of fluids and nutritious food..
Keep checking for any development of rash and body pains..
If the platelet count reaches more than 2 lakhs you don't have to worry..
Hope this information helps you..Take care..

hello dear,
thanks for your query at health care magic,
dengue is caused by virus. there is no specific treatment against this virus.
all treatment is fluid management and symptomatic treatment.
in dengue platelet count will fall because of infection that leads problems.
increasing platelet is sign of recovery. your child is recovering from fever.
give plenty of fluids .
if see any danger signs like altered sensorium , any bleeding , rashes take him to doctor.
thank you.
