Does No Bowel Movement And Irregular Heartbeat After Surgery Require Medical Attention?

father s/p total knee replacement 6 days ago. On narcotics for pain. No BM, abd distended. Have tried colace BID, dulcolax supp, miralax and metamucil. Tried mag citrate 6 hours ago. No success, 1 episode of emesis and now dev irreg heart beat. Should I return to the ER or wait a while longer?

I really appreciate your concern, if the constipation is main concern then for that no need to go to ER unless it is associated with other serious symptoms like abdomen distension, pain, vomiting fatigue else for constipation soap water enema can be tried, in post operative patient in major surgery constipation is pretty common and it is nothing to worry hope this information helps.
