Had Hysterectomy.Experiencing Vaginal Dryness, Anxiety, Depression And Weight Gain. Suggested Estrogen. Will It Work?

Hi.....I had a hysterectomy in Sept. 2011....I am 49 years old. I have not taken anything, which I was suprise my doctor did not suggest anything for me....I am now experiencing symptons, such as vaginal dryness and anxiety, depression, weight gain....I finally went to another doctor who suggested to put me on the estrogen patch....I wanted to get someone opinion on this and will it increase my libodo and bring back my vaginal secretions. Thanks

Thanks for using healthcare magic.

After hysterectomy, vaginal dryness, decrease in libido, anxiety or depression , heat waves are common.

Estrogen patch is likely to decrease vaginal dryness and will increase libido.

Your anxiety/depression might also be partly responsible for decrease in libido. So you should consult psychiatrist/sexologist for detailed evaluation and treatment if required.

Hysterectomy one and a half year back. Symptoms now?
These symptoms are clearly age related and anxiety?
If you have normal sexual life, why worry?
Estrogen patch would be sufficient for the time being.
Leave your anxiety away.
We get aged and feel vaginal dryness, use lubricators and estrogen patches.
This dryness is quite normal for your age. You are also reaching menopause.
Understand body functioning and keep anxiety away.
Wish you good future.
