Had Unprotected Sex, Ovulated Early. Safe To Take Next Choice?

My cycle is average 25 days. My last period was April 24th. I had unprotected sex on April 30th. I estimated that since my cycle is so short that I would ovulate early. I took Next Choice on May 2nd. I had sex again unprotected on May 7th. My question is, is it safe to take Next Choice again less than a week after I have already taken it or is the effects from the first time I took it still in my system?

Hi and thanks for the query,
the NEXT CHOICE option used by most women is not one of the very effective methods of contraception. Using i again repeated greatly increases chances of failure. Other than that, this could alter the regularity of the menstrual cycle, and using a method like the rhythm method, through monitoring your period will become very unreliable. It would be appropriate for you to consult your family care physician or gynecologist for an appropriate method of contraception which shall actually be adapted to your needs.
Thanks and hope this helps and best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
