Have Defecate Problems And Pain In Lower Rectum After Food Intake. Took Percocet. Could It Be A Spastic Bowel?
90 year old female, healthy, not overweight, physical active every day. Developing problems to defecate. Short after food intake extreme pain in lower rectum. Stool softener will produce more cramps. When Percocet administered, short after is able to produce small BM. Abdom. soft, non tend. by touch, BS adequate in all 4 quad.. Could it be a spastic bowel and if so, is medication available to relief the spasms.
Yes, it can be spastic bowel. However it can be also a symptom of bowels obstruction due to colon cancer. Especially if she has lost some weight recently, have blood in stool, diarrhea and/or constipation. I suggest you to take her to the doctor. Abdominal X ray should be done at first. Colonoscopy should be next. Please do not ignore such symptoms.
Hope this will help. Regards.
