Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had excessive belching (100 times a day) since January. I stopped drinking soft drinks and coffee back in January to see if this would help. Nothing seems to help. I m still not drinking the soft drinks and coffee. My doctor thought gall bladder so I ve went through gall bladder ultrasound, hpylori test, hida scan and all of these came back normal. My doctor has now left the practice. I have an appt on the 20th w/a gastro doctor. Along w/the excessive belching I have some bloating, feeling full quickly after I eat, loss of appetite, at times constipation and/or loose stool. I am 36 years old.
hello, 1) your symptoms are suggestive if hiatus hernia. This is condition in which opening in diaphragm from which esophagus enter into abdomen become wide due to which upper part of stomach move into chest. 2) this also produce symptoms of GERD due to changes in lower part of esophagus from long time exposure to stomach acid. 3) you should undergo upper GI endoscopy to confirm both of this. treatment for acidity is mandatory to control symptoms and surgery is recommended if hiatus hernia is detrcted to prevent repeated episodes of symptoms
