Infant With A Rash In The Armpit Spreading. Due To Change In Soap Or Climate?

My son, 19 months, has a rash under his armpit. It started after a weekend trip, so I assumed it was due to a change in soap, water, climate, etc. However, it has not subsided and is now spreading down his torso. It does not seem to be bothering him at all and he has no other symptoms, but the fact that it is spreading is my main concern.

Hi
Thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
Rash could be allergic or infective in nature.
Since there are no associated symptoms no need to worry.
Apply calamine lotion 2 to 3 times a day.
Give benadryl as per dosage.
Keep a close eye on progression of rash and if it persist even after 24 hours or any new symptom appear get him evaluated by pediatrician as physical examination of rash will be needed.

Thanks for your query. As you said spreading lesion need not be taken lightly. It should be shown to a dermatologist. It could be due to fungal lesion or due to allergy. Dermatologist might prescribe medications accordingly after inspecting the lesion. But don't worry it doesn't seem serious. He will be alright with medications.
