Not Vaccinated For Dog Bite. How Many Years Does It Effect?

Hi, there. I am Lucille. When i was 9 yrs. old I was bitten by a dog of our rich neighborhood. By that time, I never tell what happened to my parents until then I grew up, I was never vaccinated. Just wanna ask f how many years does a dog bite will effect since I didn't. gone through vaccination of anti-rabies. Now I am 24 yrs. old and still on doubt about it. Thank you!

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Incubation period for rabies virus is very much variable. So post advise of your doctor you should get rabies vaccination done.

If nothing else this will act as a preexposure prophylaxis.

hello,
thank you for using health care magic
incubation period of rabies is 3 to 8 weeks... but rare cases has been seen as early as 4 days and latest like 1year.. well it seems you were bitten by dog 15 years back and you are fine... i dont think there is any risk now and rabies virus has no carrier state so no need to worry..
still if you want you can go for vaccination just for mental satisfaction it wont harm you..
