Speechless After Having A Stroke In Left Side Of The Brain 2 Years Ago
my father has had a stroke 2years ago, left side of brain . my father is 80, weighs 170 and before the stroke, was very fit, used to fly the concorde for 10 years. mother has tried everything, to help him try and speak, but alas no joy, am his son and willing to listen to any suggestions.many thanks!!

left side of the brain is the dominant lobe for speech and other functions..it will take a lot of time for him to recover..in fact it will take atleast one more year..motivate him to talk and support him to the very best..he needs speech training and lot of family support to get back to his yester years..
Thanks a lot for using healthcaremagic. As the damage is to the left side of the brain it causes right sided weakness and speech problem. Continue speech and physiotherapy. Don't loose hope try try until he recovers. No medicines except speech therapy. Bye
