Suggest Cause For Greenish Diarrhea With Stomach Ache
Hi... My 4 yr old daughter has been having diarrhea now on and off for about a month. There are no other symptoms except a bad belly sometimes. Sometimes it is watery and sometimes its not. It is also greenish the last couple of times. Her appetite and everything is normal. What could cause this and is this something i should take her to the family doctor for?

Hello,
Green colour diarrhoea may be due to rapid movement of the food through the colon may lead to the reduced breakdown of bile pigments lead to green stools.
Also eating if green leafy vegetables, green colouring agents contain food lead to green stools.
Gallbladder and liver pathology may also present like green colour stools. Get it done stool examination and microscopy.
conditions like irritable bowel syndrome or acute gastroenteritis also may cause green stools. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.
Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
