Suggest Remedy For Mucus Discharge During Anal Fissure

My wife has an anal fissure which we are treating with sitz baths, high fiber diet, and stool softener (it was her forcing stool that caused it). She has a clear mucous discharge that occurs over the course of the day. Otherwise, she is content with her condition. How long will that last and is there anything that can be cone about it?
