Hi,

Dermovate contains the active ingredient clobetasol which is a steroid medicine used to reduce inflammation. It is used in short courses to treat severe inflammatory skin disorders where other corticosteroids haven't been effective such as eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, discoid lupus erthematosus etc.

When Dermovate for prolonged periods of time on the skin and under dressings that don't breathe, it is possible that enough medication will absorb into the bloodstream to cause unwanted local side effects like burning, dryness, itching, irritation of skin, skin color changes or darker skin, unusual bruising, thinning of skin, visible lines, small blood vessels under the skin etc. Hence, it is advisable to use this medication only for brief periods only and to stop using it as soon as the problems clears. If you experience such type of local side effects, immediately inform your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
